Vikings Could Target A Replacement For LB Erin Henderson In The Draft

Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune writes that impending free agent OLB Erin Henderson may not want to re-sign with the Vikings next season given that they were unwilling to offer him a long-term agreement last year.

The Vikings will have three linebackers to address during the offseason including Henderson, Jasper Brinkley and Marvin Mitchell.

Henderson and Brinkley are both serviceable players that are worth consideration for being re-signed. Although Henderson excels against the run, he struggles mightily in coverage, so it’s not as though he’s going to command a huge deal on the open market. On top of that, he may want a change of scenery, so the Vikings could be forced to address the position during the draft.

Craig mentions that inside linebackers such as Manti Te’o,  Alec Ogletree and Kevin Minter could be potential options for Minnesota’s first-round pick.

We have Henderson listed as the No. 76 best available player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
