The Minnesota Vikings have elected to decline WR Cordarrelle Patterson‘s fifth-year option on Monday, according to Matt Vensel of the Star Tribune.
Patterson’s fifth-year option would have run the Vikings $7.9 million in 2017, but was guaranteed only for injury and wouldn’t have prevented them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.
Patterson, 25, was taken with the No. 29 overall pick during the 2013 NFL draft. He’s in the final year of his our-year, $6.816 million rookie contract and will make a base salary of $1,009,687 for the 2016 season.
In 2015, Patterson appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings, but caught just two passes for 10 yards receiving to go along with two rushes for 15 yards and no touchdowns. He also contributed 1,019 kick return yards and two touchdowns.
