Vikings Discussed Contract Figures With CB Terence Newman, Agreement Isn’t Close

According to Darren Wolfson of ESPN 1500, the Vikings and free agent CB Terence Newman has discussed contractual numbers on Thursday.

However, Wolfson adds that an agreement between the two parties is not close at this point in time.

The Patriots hosted Newman for a visit on Tuesday, but elected to sign two younger cornerbacks to contracts. Newman has already visited with the Vikings and there are obvious ties to Minnesota given that Mike Zimmer is their head coach.

Newman, 36, has spent the past three seasons with the Bengals after playing nine years for the Cowboys.

In 2014, Newman recorded 70 tackles, one interception and 14 pass defenses for the Cincinnati. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 56 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.
