Vikings Discussing A Contract Extension For OT Phil Loadholt

Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports that the Minnesota Vikings are in the process of discussing a long-term contract extension for OT Phil Loadholt.

Minnesota currently has $8.546 million in salary cap space available, so it makes sense that they would start working on a few contract extensions for some of their young talent.

Loadholt, 26, is a former second-round pick who has developed into a solid run and pass protector for the Vikings, but they’re unlikely to break the bank on this deal.

Pelissero mentions that there are only four right tackles included in the Top 20 salaries for offensive tackles. Since Loadholt isn’t a dominate force at the position, it makes sense that they would target a deal close to the median in total salary.
