Vikings Sign CFL WR Brandon Zylstra To Futures Deal

According to Andrew Krammer of the Star-Tribune, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to sign CFL WR Brandon Zylstra to a futures contract for the 2018 season.

  • Ben Goessling confirmed the news adds that the Vikings are expected to give Zylstra “well above” the normal amount of guaranteed money as part of this deal.

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

The Vikings actually worked Zylstra out a few weeks ago, so he was clearly on their radar as a potential futures signing.

Zylstra, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Concordia back in 2016. The Edmonton Eskimos later signed him to a contract and he’s spent the past two years in Canada.

In total, Zylstra has caught 134 passes for 2,195 yards receiving (16.4 YPR) to go along with eight touchdowns over the course of two seasons and 22 total games. He was named a CFL All-Star this past season after leading the league in receiving yards.
