Vikings GM Spielman Says Team Has Fielded Trade Offers, Activity “Heating Up”

Vikings GM Rick Spielman said that trade inquiries have increased, and that the team received three calls and two texts yesterday alone regarding trading picks, via Tom Pelissero of USA Today.

  • Spielman added that the Vikings have already received offers for their second and fourth round picks.

It is likely that all NFL teams are receiving similar calls this week, but the increased activity may be the result of general managers recognizing Minnesota’s willingness to move down and acquire additional picks.

Minnesota is one of a select few teams believed to be strongly considering a quarterback in the first round.  Despite this need however, Spielman has stated that ideally, the Vikings would have at least ten picks in every draft.  This year they have eight.

Additionally, the activity could signal that Minnesota is not sold on selecting a quarterback at pick 8, but they may be comfortable doing so later in the first round.

We have Minnesota selecting Central Florida QB Blake Bortles in the first round of our 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
