Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that the Vikings will be hosting free agent S Taylor Mays for a visit on Thursday.

Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reports the Vikings are among three “strong candidates” in the running to sign free agent S Taylor Mays.

  • According to Tomasson, the other teams Bengals and Redskins.
  • A source tells Tomasson that the Bengals “desperately” want Mays back.

John Keim of ESPN previously reported that the Redskins and Mays have “mutual interest,” but they’ve yet to set up a visit as of now.

There’s an obvious connection between Washington and Mays, considering that new Redskins GM Scot McCloughan was in San Francisco when they draft him.

Mays, 27, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was later traded to the Bengals for an undisclosed draft pick just a year later.

In 2014, Mays appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded nine tackles, a sack, and a safety. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just 61 snaps last year.
