Chris Tomasson reports that the Vikings could show interest in Chiefs QB Nick Foles, assuming the team does not pick up his $6.75 million option on Thursday, which would make him an unrestricted free agent.
Tomasson points out that the Vikings were interested in Foles last year and Minnesota is still trying to figure out their backup quarterback situation for 2017.
Mike Garafolo previously reported that the Chiefs are unlikely to pick up Foles’ option for the 2017 season, making it a strong possibility he reaches the open market.
Foles, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. Philadelphia traded Foles to the Rams back in 2015 in deal for QB Sam Bradford and he later signed an extension with the Rams.
Unfortunately, Foles lasted just over a year with the Rams before he was released last summer. The Chiefs later signed him to a two-year, $12.5 million contract, which includes a $6.75 million option for the 2017 season.
In 2016, Foles appeared in three games and threw for 410 yards while completing 65.5 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
