Vikings Interested In Bears RFA CB Bryce Callahan

Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports that the Vikings are interested in Bears restricted free agent CB Bryce Callahan, who received an original-round tender from Chicago on Monday.

The original-round tender gives the Bears the right of first refusal for any offer Callahan signs with another team in free agency. However, the Bears would not receive any draft pick compensation if they were to decline to match the offer, considering that Callahan was an undrafted free agent.

Callahan, 26, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in May of 2015. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed him to the team’s practice squad before later being called up.

The Bears brought Callahan back on a one-year exclusive rights contract last year.

In 2017, Callahan appeared in 12 games and recorded 25 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and six pass defenses to go along with 65 punt return yards and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
