Vikings GM Rick Spielman told reporters that he has “full, 100 percent belief” in Christian Ponder as their quarterback of the future.
“I know everybody in this organization believes Christian Ponder is our guy,” Spielman said, via the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. “You also know that, as young guys develop, they’re going to have hiccups. But you’ve got to be patient.”
Ponder’s production has been spotty at best this season, but is coming off of a decent performance against the Lions where he threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Still, Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 quarterback in the league, which puts him behind the likes of Blaine Gabbert and Matt Cassel.
There’s almost no chance that Ponder is under center to start the 2013 season, but that could end up being a make-or-break type of season for him.
