Vikings Making Serious Effort To Close Deal With DL Sheldon Richardson

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that free agent DL Sheldon Richardson remains in Minnesota and is getting a tour of the Vikings’ stadium. According to Pelissero, the Vikings would like to close the deal with Richardson, if the price is right.

Ian Rapoport adds that there is some wining and dining going on but it sounds like the Vikings are making a serious effort to get him under contract.

The Seahawks are interested in re-signing him, but it’s clear that the Vikings are the team to beat right now.

Richardson, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2013. He played out his the final year of his four-year, $10.054 million rookie contract but the Jets elected to pick up his fifth-year option last year.

The Jets traded Richardson to the Seahawks for WR Jermaine Kearse and 2018 second-round pick. The two teams also swapped 2018 7th-round picks as part of the deal.

Richardson is testing the open market for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Richardson appeared in 15 games for the Seahawks and recorded 44 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble, two recoveries and a pass defense.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
