Vikings Notes: Anthony Barr, Trae Waynes, Laquon Treadwell

Anthony Barr

Vikings LB Anthony Barr said he is focused on “getting better” rather than his contract situation with the team.

I’m just focusing on being here and getting better, so we’ll let that figure itself out,” Barr said, via Tomasson.

Trae Waynes

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said CB Trae Waynes has done a “really good job” this offseason and is hopeful he can become an “elite” cornerback.

He’s been doing a really good job, getting better with a lot of things he’s doing,’’ Zimmer said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I think the next progression because he’s close a lot of times, when the ball’s there, and the other guy makes a play. So when he gets to the point where he can continue to knock the ball out or intercept the football, that would be taking the next step to being an elite corner.”

Laquon Treadwell

According to Zimmer, having a new quarterback in Kirk Cousins has helped former first-round WR Laquon Treadwell come in with a fresh start this year.

“Kirk has come in with an open mind,” Zimmer said, via the Pioneer Press. “He hasn’t read all the things about what people are saying about Treadwell. … It helps when you’re a receiver and the quarterback has confidence in you that you’re going to go out there and make the play … Treadwell has worked his rear end off to make sure that Kirk has confidence in him.

Vikings

  • Ben Goessling reports that Vikings DE Everson Griffen has not been practicing because he cut his leg on a table several days ago and the cut got infected. Even so, there, reportedly a chance Griffen could play Saturday.
