Vikings Place C John Sullivan On Short-Term Injured Reserve

The Minnesota Vikings announced Thursday that they’ve placed C John Sullivan on injured reserve with the designation to return.

Sullivan is now the second offensive line starter for the Vikings to end up on the injured reserve after the team sent RT Phil Loadholt to season-ending I.R. not too long ago.

This move will keep Sullivan, who underwent a lumbar microdiscectomy on Wednesday, out until after the team’s Week 8 game.

Sullivan, 30, has three years remaining on his six-year, $25.6 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of  $7 million for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Sullivan appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 12 center out of qualifying players.
