Vikings Place ILB Casey Matthews On Season-Ending Injured Reserve

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer told reporters on Sunday that they’ve placed ILB Casey Matthews on season-ending injured reserve, per Ben Goessling. Matthews unfortunately sustained a hip injury.

Matthews, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2011. He signed a one-year deal worth $825,000 with the Vikings back in March, so it looks like he’ll test free agency again in 2016.

In 2014, Matthews appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 53 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the N0. 47 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players.
