Vikings Place Rookie RB Dalvin Cook On Injured Reserve

The Minnesota Vikings announced Thursday that they’ve officially placed rookie running back Dalvin Cook on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

This move frees up a roster spot for newly signed RB Stevan Ridley.

Cook went down with a non-contact knee injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Lions. He immediately grabbed for his knee upon making a cut and he wound up fumbling on the play and it was clear that this was likely a major injury.

Cook, 22, was taken in the second round of this year’s draft. He signed a four-year, $6.35 million contract with the Vikings and stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $753,787 over the first two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Cook appeared in four games for the Vikings and rushed for 354 yards on 74 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 90 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
