Vikings Placing DT Sharrif Floyd On Injured Reserve

The Minnesota Vikings are placing DT Sharrif Floyd (knee surgery) on injured reserve Monday, according to Ian Rapoport.

This move creates a roster spot for DT Toby Johnson, who has been promoted to their active roster. (NFLTR)

Floyd underwent knee surgery a few weeks into the regular season was on his meniscus and it involved trimming the ligament.

Floyd, 25, was taken with the No. 23 overall pick back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $7.671 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $941,300 in 2016 when the Vikings picked up his fifth-year option back in May.

The option tender will run the Vikings $6.7 million in 2017, but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

This season, Floyd was active for one but did not record a statistic.
