Dan Graziano of ESPN is reporting that Vikings QB Sam Bradford is not expected to play in Sunday’s game after his knee didn’t respond well to practice work this week.

According to Graziano, the next steps beyond this week are unclear.

Chris Tomasson mentioned earlier that Bradford was not on the field for the start of workouts on Friday and Case Keenum opened as the team’s first-string quarterback, so it appears as though they’re preparing for Keenum to make his second straight start.

There was some optimism earlier in the week that Bradford may be able to return, but the possibility still existed that his knee could prevent him from suiting up.

Bradford is reportedly dealing with a cartilage issue that has created some swelling and discomfort along with a bone bruise.

Bradford, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2010. He spent four years with the Rams before he was traded to the Eagles in 2015. After Teddy Bridgewater sustained a serious knee injury last year, the Eagles traded him to the Vikings for draft compensation.

Bradford is currently in the final year of his two-year, $36 million contract that included $36 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $13 million for the 2017 season.

This season, Bradford has appeared in one game and thrown for 346 yards while completing 84.4 percent of his passes to go along with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

We’ll have more regarding Bradford as the news is available.
