Vikings Re-Sign RB Matt Asiata

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they’ve re-signed RB Matt Asiata on Wednesday.

There was talk from a few weeks ago that Asiata could be back with the Vikings next year, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.

Asiata, 28, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Utah back in 2009. He spent two years in Chicago before eventually signing to the Vikings’ practice squad.

He returned to the Vikings on a one-year deal last year and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2015, Asiata appeared in all 16 games and ran for 112 yards on 29 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 10 receptions for 132 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
