Vikings Release WR Mike Wallace, Free Up $11.5M In Cap Space

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that the Vikings are releasing WR Mike Wallace.

Last night, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports mentioned that he’d be “shocked” if Vikings WR Wallace wasn’t among their roster cuts coming in the next 48 hours.

Wallace, 29, was in the fourth five-year, $60 million contract that included $30 million guaranteed. He was set to make base salaries of $11.45 million over the next two years.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Wallace will free up $11.5 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Wallace appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and recorded 39 receptions for 473 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 96 receiver out of 121 qualifying players.
