Vikings Rookie RB Dalvin Cook Out For Season With Torn ACL

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer announced Monday that rookie RB Dalvin Cook has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2017 season.

“I expect him to come back and be the same that he was,” Zimmer said of Cook.

According to Zimmer, veteran RB Latavius Murray is ready to go, despite his troublesome ankle.

You can expect the Vikings to place Cook on injured reserve in the coming days add someone to their roster.

Cook went down with a non-contact knee injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Lions. He immediately grabbed for his knee upon making a cut and he wound up fumbling on the play.

It was clear that this was likely a major injury for Cook and reports from last night indicated that the team feared he had an ACL injury.

Cook, 22, was taken in the second round of this year’s draft. He signed a four-year, $6.35 million contract with the Vikings and stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $753,787 over the first two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Cook appeared in four games for the Vikings and rushed for 354 yards on 74 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 11 receptions for 90 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
