Vikings Sign DB Melvin White To Futures Deal

The Minnesota Vikings officially signed DB Melvin White to a future/reserve contract on Friday.

The Vikings have now signed eight players to future’s contracts including:

  1. LB Alex Singleton
  2. LB Terrance Plummer
  3. S John Lowdermilk 
  4. FB Blake Renaud
  5. OL Isame Faciane
  6. WR Isaac Fruechte 
  7. DT Toby Johnson 

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and training camp.

White, 25, originally signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana-Lafayette back in 2013. He lasted just over a year in Carolina before he was among their early roster cuts at the start of the season.

The Rams later signed him to their practice squad at the start of the season.

In 2014, White appeared in 14 games and recorded 36 tackles, an interception, and six pass defenses for the Panthers.
