Vikings Sign First-Round Pick QB Teddy Bridgewater

The Vikings announced the signing of first-round pick QB Teddy Bridgewater to a four-year contract on Tuesday.

Minnesota has also signed fellow first-round pick OLB Anthony Barr to go along with DT Shamar Stephen (seventh round) and LB Brandon Watts (seventh round).

The Vikings now have most of their draft class locked up with just three players left unsigned.

Bridgewater has reportedly looked great during his first workouts for the team, so it will be interesting to see if he’s capable of pushing veteran QB Matt Cassel for the starting job in training camp.

“Teddy’s been great,” HC Mike Zimmer said. “He’s had good command of the offense. I like his leadership. Throwing the ball well. He’s progressing at a good pace.”

Bridgewater was a three-year starter at Louisville where he threw for 9,817 passing yards and 72 touchdowns over the course of his collegiate career.

Some still believe he is the best quarterback in this year’s draft class, despite the numerous concerns that were being mentioned throughout the draft process.

The Vikings actually moved back in round one to select Bridgewater, which will given them the opportunity to pick up his fifth-year option at a later point in time.
