Vikings Sign RB Latavius Murray To Three-Year Deal Worth Roughly $15M

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they’ve signed RB Latavius Murray to a contract late last night.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, the Vikings signed Murray to a three-year contract worth roughly $15 million.
  • Ben Goessling reports that Murray receives $8.5 million guaranteed over the next three years and a $5.15 million base salary in 2018 that becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster as of the third day of the 2018 league year.
  • According to Field Yates, Murray’s deal with the Vikings is for three years, but can be voided after one season.

This likely means that the Vikings will be moving on from long-time RB Adrian Peterson.

Murray drew interest from the Seahawks and Jaguars before meeting with the Vikings. Indications were that the meeting with the Vikings was going well and it appears they were able to hammer out a deal in the end.

Murray, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.266 million rookie contract and was one of the best available running backs in this year’s free agent class.

In 2016, Murray has rushed for 788 yards on 195 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 12 rushing touchdowns and 33 receptions for 264 yards receiving. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 running back out of 61 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
