Vikings Sign S Chris Crocker & Waive DE Rakim Cox

The Vikings announced Monday that they have signed S Chris Crocker and placed DE Rakim Cox on waivers.

Crocker, 34, spent a number of years with new Vikings HC Mike Zimmer while in Cincinnati, so it’s not surprising to see them bring him in given that they could use some depth at safety.

The offseason wasn’t all that kind to Crocker as he hadn’t found any reported interest as a free agent.

Last year, Crocker appeared in 12 games for the Bengals and totaled 36 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and scored a defensive touchdown.

According to Pro Football Focus, Crocker had positive ratings in both run defense and pass protection while playing 516 snaps.

Cox signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova back in May. Over the course of his four years in college, Cox recorded 105 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, four forced fumbles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and four blocked kicks.
