Vikings Sign TE Brian Leonhardt To Practice Squad, Cut CB Tre Roberson

The Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday that they’ve signed TE Brian Leonhardt to their practice squad and waived CB Tre Roberson from the unit.

The Vikings’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. RB CJ Ham
  2. DT Toby Johnson
  3. WR Moritz Boehringer
  4. QB Joel Stave
  5. TE Kyle Carter
  6. DE Stephen Weatherly
  7. TE Brian Leonhardt
  8. G Isame Faciane
  9. WR Isaac Fruechte
  10. G Sean Hickey

Leonhardt, 26, wound up signing on with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Bemidji State back in 2013. He was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason that year, but later signed on to the team’s practice squad.

The Raiders elected to sign him to a one-year exclusive rights contract last April, but Leonhardt was once again among their final roster cuts at the start of the season. The 49ers signed him to their practice squad towards the end of the season only to release him in February.

The Vikings signed Leonhardt to a one-year deal during free agency, only to cut him loose coming out of the preseason. He joined the Lions on their practice squad for a few weeks before he was cut loose a week ago.

In 2015, Leonhardt appeared in four games and caught a single pass for four yards receiving.
