Vikings Sign DE Danielle Hunter To Five-Year, $72M Extension

Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo are reporting that the Vikings and DE Danielle Hunter have agreed to terms on a contract extension.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Hunter receives a five-year extension worth $72 million and includes $40 million guaranteed to go along with a $15 million signing bonus.

The Vikings have already confirmed the news.

Hunter was one of a few notable players for the Vikings in line for a new contract along with WR Stefon Diggs and OLB Anthony Barr.

Hunter, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Vikings back in 2015. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.969 million contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2017, Hunter appeared in all 15 games for the Vikings and recorded 45 tackles, seven sacks, a forced fumble, a recovery and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 edge rusher out of 106 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
