Vikings “Strongly Considering” Mark Sanchez As Well As Other QB Options

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Vikings are “exploring all of their options” as they look to find a replacement for Teddy Bridgewater.

Cabot lists specifically mentions Josh McCown, Colin Kaepernick, Mark Sanchez, Mike Glennon, and Michael Vick as players likely on the Vikings’ radar right now.

However, Cabot says that the Browns are unlikely to part with McCown in a potential trade, considering that their asking price is believed to be rather high.

Jason Cole of B/R reports that the Vikings are looking at available backup quarterbacks around the league right now to replace QB Teddy Bridgewater, who sustained a major knee injury will miss the entire 2016 season.

According to Cole, the Vikings are “strongly considering” Broncos backup QB Mark Sanchez and would likely be willing to pay his full salary.

Previous reports have said that the Broncos are attempting to trade Sanchez now that they’ve announced Trevor Siemian as their starting quarterback. Although, they also mentioned that Denver could try to get him to take a pay cut to remain with the team.

The Cowboys have come up as a potential option for Sanchez following the Tony Romo injury, but reports mentioned that Sanchez’s salary could be prohibitive for the Cowboys.

Sanchez, 29, is in the final year of his two-year, $9 million contract that includes $5.5 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $4.5 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Sanchez would free up $4.5 million in available cap space while creating no dead money.

In 2015, Sanchez appeared in four games for the Eagles and threw for 616 yards while completing 64.8 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
