Vikings TE John Carlson Has No Intention Of Retiring

A few months ago, there was some speculation that Vikings TE John Carlson‘s career be in jeopardy after he suffered another concussion this past season and was dealing with post concussion symptoms.

However, Carlson told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he intends to continue his career, despite the risks that could come from another concussion.

“I never once said I was going to retire; I said I’m going to evaluate this just like I do every year,” Carlson said. “I’ve gone through that process, and I feel great.”

“It’s a serious thing, but I’m not ready to be done,” Carson said. “I’m not done and the doctors are telling me that it’s OK that I’m not done.”

Minnesota ended Carlson’s when the placed him on injured reserve back in December.

The Vikings signed Carlson to a  five-year, $25 million contract that included $9.1 million guaranteed back in 2012. He has a base salary of $3.9 million for the 2014 season and will count $5 million against the team’s salary cap.
