Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph Needs Surgery, Out Close To 6 Weeks

Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports that after undergoing an MRI on his injured groin, Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph will require surgery and is expected to be out six weeks.

Rudolph appeared to be fighting through something during Sunday’s loss to the Saints, but he did manage to catch three passes for 27 yards and was targeted five times before departing.

Rudolph, 24, signed a five-year extension worth $36.5 million that included $19 million guaranteed with Minnesota back in July. Last year, Rudolph appeared in just eight games and caught 30 receptions for 313 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

MarQueis Gray figures to see time as the Vikings primary receiving tight end with Rudolph out of the lineup.
