Vikings Try Out QBs Pat Devlin, Jeff Mathews, & Brad Sorensen

Earlier in the day, Vikings HC Mike Zimmer confirmed to reporters that they worked out some quarterbacks on Friday following the injury to practice squad QB Chandler Harnish, per Chris Tomasson.

However, Zimmer didn’t offer any names regarding the players that were brought in for tryouts.

Howard Balzer of LockerDome.com reports that the three quarterbacks Minnesota tried out were Pat Devlin, Jeff Mathews, and Brad Sorensen.

Delvin, 26, signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Delaware back in 2011. He served as the Dolphins’ third-string quarterback last season, backing up Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore.

Delvin was waive/injured by the Dolphins back in August and hasn’t yet to join a new team.

Mathews, 23, is another undrafted free agent who signed on with the Falcons back in May. Atlanta placed him on waivers a few weeks before the start of the regular season and he later wound up on the Colts’ practice squad.

Indy parted was with Mathews right before their Week 1 match up.

Sorensen, 26, was taken in the seventh round of last year’s NFL draft by the Chargers. He was waived as San Diego trimmed their roster down to 53 players before the start of last season.

The Titans added him to their practice squad close to a month ago, but he was cut loose just a few days later.

We’ll have to see if the Vikings sign either of these players in the coming days.
