Vikings Waive RB Ronnie Hillman, Promote DE Stephen Weatherly

The Minnesota Vikings announced Monday that they’ve placed RB Ronnie Hillman on waivers and promoted DE Stephen Weatherly to their active roster.

Hillman, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract before re-signing with Denver on a one-year, $2 million contract this past April. However, the Broncos cut him loose in a move that freed up $1.5 million in available cap space.

The Vikings later signed him to a contract after sustaining some injuries at running back.

In 2016, Hillman appeared in five games for the Vikings and ran for 50 yards on 18 carries (2.8 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 43 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
