Vikings Will Start Christian Ponder Against The Packers In Week 12

Vikings HC Leslie Frazier told reporters on Wednesday that Christian Ponder will remain the team’s starting quarterback against the Packers in Week 12.

This comes just days after Ponder was benched after throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown during Week 11’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Ponder finished last Sunday completing 13-of-22 passing for 129 yards, a touchdown, two interceptions and a lost fumble.

Matt Cassel relieved him during the game, but it appeared as though the Vikings could turn to Josh Freeman who hasn’t played since Week 7’s game against the Giants.

Ponder has played some of his best football against the Packers, so this could be part of the team’s thinking regarding their decision to stick with him. It’s hard to imagine that Ponder would be able to survive another poor performance.
