Vikings Will Not Start Josh Freeman In Week 6

Vikings HC Leslie Frazier told reporters on Monday that newly signed QB Josh Freeman “is not going to be the starting quarterback this weekend.”

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that Freeman will need some time to learn the team’s offense.

Minnesota will either go with Christian Ponder or Matt Cassel when they take on the Carolina Panthers.

Ponder could be forced to miss another week due to a rib injury that kept him out of Week 4’s game against the Steelers. Cassel was able to lead Minnesota to their first win of the season and could be their best shot at pulling out another victory on Sunday.

Moving forward, it appears as though the Vikings will give Freeman an opportunity to compete for the starting job. After all, reports from last night indicated that Minnesota offered him a two-year contract, but he ultimately turned that offer down and settled for a one-year pact.
