Vikings Working On Restructured Deal For RB Latavius Murray

Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports that the Vikings are working on restructuring RB Latavius Murray‘s deal.

Goessling mentions that Murray is an obvious candidate for a salary reduction this year.

Murray, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. After four years in Oakland, Murray departed for a three-year, $15 million contract that included $3.4 million guaranteed with the Vikings last year.

Murray stands to make base salaries of $5.15 million and $4.4 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Murray would free up $5,150,000 of available cap space while creating $1.2 million in dead money.

In 2017, Murray appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and rushed for 842 yards on 216 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with 15 receptions for 103 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 running back out of 58 qualifying players.
