Vikings WR Adam Thielen Dealing With “Slight Fractures” In His Lower Back

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Vikings WR Adam Thielen (questionable, back) is dealing with a “couple of slight fractures” in his lower back.

Thielen will play in Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Eagles, but this injury is reportedly “extremely painful” to deal with.

Thielen, 27, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State-Mankato back in 2013. He spent his rookie season the Vikings’ practice squad before returning to the team on a future/reserve contract the following year.

Minnesota brought Thielen back for the 2015 season on a one-year exclusive rights deal before signing him to a four-year, $19.240 million contract that included $11 million guaranteed last year. Thielen stands to make base salaries of $2.85 million and $3.85 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Thielen appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and caught 91 passes for 1,276 yards receiving and four touchdowns for the Vikings. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 receiver out of 119 qualifying players.
