Vince Young Retiring From The NFL

Free agent QB Vince Young tells Brent Carney of KXAN.com that he is likely retiring from the NFL unless a team offers him a guaranteed opportunity.

“I’m retired [from the NFL],” Young said, per Carney. “Unless we get a great opportunity, something guaranteed…I’ve already started moving forward” Young said, “It’s definitely official I think in my book.”

It’s definitely official I think in my book,” Young said Saturday at his annual football camp. “Unless we get a great opportunity, something guaranteed…other than that I’ve started moving forward in some things.”

“I love the NFL, will love the game always but I’m kind of moving forward and moving on right now.”

Young plans to take on an ambassador role for the University of Texas, but the two sides are still working through some of the details.

The Browns signed him a few months ago, but he lasted just a few weeks with the team before he was cut loose.

Young, 31, was a first-round draft pick of the Titans back in 2006. However, he hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2011.

As a starter, he won 31 of 50 games and recorded 8,964 yards passing, 46 touchdowns, and 51 interceptions over the course of six seasons.
