Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Redskins have released veteran LB Desmond Bishop on Monday.
- The other players cut on Monday include: DL Christo Bilukidi, WR LaRon Byrd, CB Chris Culliver, DL Anthony Johnson, DL Kamal Johnson, CB Al Louis-Jean and LB Derrick Mathews.
Bishop, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Packers. He spent five years with Green Bay and helped them win a Super Bowl before he suffered a serious hamstring injury that cost him the 2012 season.
Bishop later caught on with the Vikings, but unfortunately suffered a torn ACL and was placed on season-ending injured reserve. The 49ers wound up signing him to a one-year contract in March before releasing him with an injury settlement at the start of the season.
Washington elected to sign him to a future/reserve contract back in January.
In 2014, Bishop appeared in two games, recording two tackles for the 49ers.
