There’s no doubt that there are many teams interested in acquiring Robert Griffin III ‘s services, but the question at hand is, who will ultimately be able to afford him?
Griffin’s stellar performance at the combine, just might have made it even more costly for any team that is hoping to trade up and grab him. Senior writer for ESPN, John Clayton noted yesterday, that “The price for Griffin, in terms of draft choice compensation, will be so high that only the Cleveland Browns who draft fourth, and the Redskins, who draft sixth, have a chance to acquire him.”
The Browns seem to have the upper hand, as they currently own the rights to two first round draft picks, which could very well seem appealing to a possible trade partner like the Rams, who seem willing to move out of the number two draft spot. But don’t be too surprised if other teams, such as the Dolphins and Seahawks try to put together some kind of deal to move up and take Griffin, as his skill set and athletic ability are too hard to pass up.
It is going to be very interesting to see how things will play out from here until the draft, for everyone involved in the hunt for RG3, so stay informed with the latest news and rumors here at NFLTradeRumors.
