Matt Forte To Show Up For The Bears Training Camp?

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte appears to be willing to be attend the team’s upcoming training camp, despite not securing long-term contract from the team.

“I don’t think I really have a choice, do I?” said Forte, via ESPN Chicago. “Yeah, I’ll be here.”

While Forte appears to be willing to attend training camp, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be there for the start of the team’s workouts. This is at least a positive sign for his availability this season. Chicago signed Michael Bush in an attempt to lessen Forte’s workload, as well as their dependence on a single player.

Forte will enter another contract year for the Bears, barring an unforeseen turn of events.

Jon Greenberg of ESPN Chicago reports that Matt Forte stiff-armed reporters about his still-tenuous contract situation, but admitted the obvious. He will have to play for the Bears this season.

“I don’t think I really have a choice, do I?” he said. “Yeah, I’ll be here”. When asked about his knee Forte said  he’s “probably the healthiest I’ve been since coming out of college.”

If he signs the franchise tender, Forte will make $7.749 million this season. Forte and the Bears have until the last hour of July 16 to agree on deal.
