Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon Unlikely To Get Past Ravens At No. 26?

According to Peter King of MMQB, Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon won’t get past the Ravens at No. 26 overall.

As things stand right now, the Ravens have Justin ForsettLorenzo Taliaferro, and Fitzgerald Toussaint listed as the top-three running backs on their depth chart, so it’s really not all that surprising to hear that they could prioritize some help at the position.

Baltimore re-signed Forsett to a three-year, $9 million contract that included a $2.1 million signing bonus at the start of free agency. However, Forsett is currently 29 and will be 30 before the end of the year.

Gordon could very well end up being the first running back taken in this year’s draft, even though there is a fairly large contingent who view Georgia RB Todd Gurley as the best running back in this year’s draft class, despite the torn ACL he sustained.

King also mentions that the Cardinals will “think very seriously of running back at No. 24,” so there’s a chance that Gordon may not even be available to the Ravens by the time they’re on the clock.

During his four-year college career, Gordon ran for 4,915 yards on 631 carries (7.8 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 228 yards receiving and 49 total touchdowns for the Badgers.

For what it’s worth, we have Gordon going to the Cowboys at No. 27 overall in our most recent 2015 NFL Mock Draft.
