Would The Titans Trade Chris Johnson?

Titans head coach Mike Munchak addressed the rumors regarding a possible trade of Chris Johnson.

I don’t think that is anything we’d give any consideration to,” Munchak said, per Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “He is with us, one way or the other, and hopefully it is on the field.”

Munchak also mentioned that they would explore adding a free agent running back is the holdout continues into the offseason. Could this be the stop for Tiki Barber?

Now that the two sides have meet and made very little progress in doing so, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that a league source informed him that a trade request could be the next step in Chris Johnson‘s negotiations with the Tennessee Titans.

Obviously the Titans do not want to deal their best player considering that he has plenty of good years ahead of him but as Florio notes there’s always the chance that a team could step in and offer them a “modern-day Herschel Walker-style package.

If Johnson’s representation chooses to go this route it’s because they feel that they’re in need of more leverage in the situation even though they are willing to have Johnson sit out the entire 2011 season. This situation is going to come down to the final hour but could possibly play on into the season depending on how the Titans handle it.

  1. The Titans should just bench him for the remainder of his contract. I would not want a money hungry baby playing for me, talented or not talented!
