Packers RB Eddie Lacy Has “Minor” Ankle Injury, Could Play In Week 3

Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Packers RB Eddie Lacy sustained a “minor” ankle injury and could still play in the team’s Week 3 match up against the Chiefs.

Green Bay will get an extra day to prepare for the Chiefs, seeing as they play on Monday night, but this news is somewhat surprising, considering that Lacy was unable to return to Sunday Night’s game.

James Starks still figures to see a decent number of carries, even if Lacy is able to suit up.

We’ll have more regarding Lacy’s injury as the news is available.

Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that X-rays on Packers RB Eddie Lacy‘s injured ankle came back negative.

  • Jason Cole confirms that X-rays were negative on Lacy’s injured ankle, and adds that his timetable to return remains unknown.

Lacy had to be carted off with an ankle injury earlier on in Sunday night’s game against Seattle, and replays showed that the injury could be pretty serious, so this is great news for the Packers.

David Chao mentioned that Lacy appeared to have suffered a low-ankle sprain, and not a high-ankle injury, which would leave him with a timetable of around 1-3 weeks.

Of course, we’ll have to wait to hear how many games Lacy could miss with this issue, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he wasn’t available in Week 3.

James Starks filled in for Lacy during Sunday Night’s game and did pretty well overall.

Lacy, 25, is in the third year of his four-year, $3.392 million rookie contract included an $847,208 signing bonus. He’ll make base salaries of $713,401 and $867,602 over the next two years.
