“Zero” Chance Tom Brady Retires After Super Bowl

In a televised interview with ESPN’s Jeff Darlington (per Dianna Russini), New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady says there’s a “zero” percent chance Sunday’s Super Bowl will be his final game.

Brady went on to say his personal goal is to play until he’s 45 years old.

In a December interview, Brady explained that football is what he loves and he’s thankful to be able to play the game for as long as he has.

“I’ve been able to be in a career for 19 years that I love,” Brady said, per Mike Reiss. “I wake up every day excited to go to work … fulfilled … I don’t think there’s any greater gift in my life than to have that … In my heart and soul, I love playing the sport of football.

Brady, 41, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2000. He signed a two-year, $41 million contract extension with the Patriots back in 2016, which included a $28 million signing bonus. Brady stands to make a base salary of just $15 million in 2019.

In 2018, Brady appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and completed 65.8 percent of their passes for 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

  1. I keep saying it over and over again. Brady is NOT retiring anytime soon. Brady has more individual QB records to make his own, coupled with HC and QB records to surpass. Drew Brees is the only obstacle in Brady’s way as far as individual QB records not including the playoffs, Brady owns all if not most of the playoff records.
Look for Brady and Brees to be around for a minimum of 5 years. Both take impeccable care of themselves. Plus the FACT that the bogus NFL rules favor the QBs more then ever. Don’t forget Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are responsible for the QB rule changes, that basically leave the QB UNTOUCHABLE. So! Now the QBs at age 35 plus are putting up Star Wars Numbers and winning league MVPs and SBs.
What would Marino, Kelly, Montana, Young, Elway, Tarkenton, Moon, Favre, etc. numbers look like if they played in today’s version of the NFL? Moon played until 40 or so, the others were literally beaten up at the end of their careers. And Elway made it to 5 SBs, winning his last 2 consecutively then retiring. And Kelly was in 4 SBs in a row in the real NFL.
Marino and Favre would have had at least 100,000 yards passing in today’s NFL easily. If it wasn’t for racism pushing Moon to go to Canada, because Moon wouldn’t change his position from QB to play in the NFL. Moon would have been right there with Marino at 100K. Factor in Moon’s stats from the CFL (multiple Grey Cup Championships and the best spiral EVER) and NFL combined for almost 70,000 yards. Brady would still be chasing Montana for SB supremacy. Tarkenton and Young would have added to their SB hardware as well.
Everyone needs to STOP worrying about when Brady will retire and enjoy the accomplishments Brady has done. Because no player will ever come close.
As far as the Pat Mahomes of today’s NFL. Get real! Watch the old tapes of Elway in his prime andFavre in his prime. Or better yet! Watch Randall Cunningham in his day torment NFL defenses game after game.
