Zero Percent Chance Wes Welker Holds Out

Jason Cole of Yahoo reports that after talking to sources close the team, “there’s almost zero chance” that Patriots WR Wes Welker holds out of training camp.

New England placed their franchise tag on Welker after they were unable to reach a long-term agreement with him before the franchise tag deadline. Since then, the Patriots have approached this situation with caution, as they appear to be unwilling to lock him up to a long-term contract.

Welker, 30, has been an outstanding weapon for them since acquiring him from the Dolphins and I’m sure that another team would be willing to offer him a reasonable contract, which is why it will be interesting to see what kind of offer the Patriots make him in the coming months.
