49ers Considering Re-signing QB Alex Smith?

Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com writes that 49ers QB Alex Smith is line for a new contract and it could be a two or three-year contract worth somewhere around $8-11 million.

This situation is pretty interesting when you consider that Smith, 27, has led the team to a 10-2 record but the teams passing attack ranks 29th in the league which isn’t exactly the kind of production that you’re paying a quarterback for.

San Francisco also drafted Colin Kaepernick earlier in the year but he wasn’t all that great during the preseason and may require more time. Either way the 49ers will have to decided if they’re willing to commit to Smith for the coming years.
