Cardinals Signing LT D.J. Humphries To Three-Year, $45M Deal

Mike Garafolo is reporting that the Cardinals have agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with LT D.J. Humphries that includes $30 million over the first two years and $29 million guaranteed.

Cardinals GM Steve Keim said last week he was “optimistic” about getting a new deal done with Humphries and it looks like there were able to hammer out an agreement well in advance of free agency.

The franchise tag would have cost the Cardinals around $16 million fully guaranteed for the 2020 season, so it appears as though the two sides agreed to settle on a $15 million per year annual salary.

Humphries, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Florida by the Cardinals in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was in the final year of his four-year, $8.912 rookie contract when Arizona picked up his fifth-year option back in 2018.

Humphries made a base salary of $9,625,000 for the 2019 season and was in line to be an unrestricted free agent.

In 2019, Humphries appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 47 offensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.

We had him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
