Adam Schefter reports that the Titans and S Kevin Byard have agreed on a five-year, $70.5 million extension including $31 million in guarantees making him the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
Byard, 25, is a former third-round pick by the Titans in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $3,237,060 rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $2.025 million in 2019.
In 2018, Byard appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 88 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, four interceptions, and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 4 overall safety out of 93 qualifying players.
