Broncos Interested In Re-Signing WR Demaryius Thomas

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Broncos are interested in re-signing WR Demaryius Thomas.

Florio mentions that a lot has changed since Thomas was last in Denver, as they have a new coaching staff and a new offense.

According to Florio, Thomas returning to the Broncos would likely cost one of their other receivers — Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, Tim Patrick, Juwann Renfree, and River Cracraft — their job.

The Patriots opted to release Thomas on Saturday as they cut their roster down to 53 players. However, reports have said that New England is still interested in re-signing Thomas after Week 1, so it’s possible he could be back with the Patriots at some point.

Thomas is still working his way back to a full recovery from an Achilles injury that he suffered late last season.

Thomas, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. The Broncos traded Thomas to the Texans for fourth- and seventh-round picks before the deadline in 2018.

Houston released Thomas in a move that freed up $14 million of available cap space and he later signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Patriots this past offseason. Unfortunately, he was among their final roster cuts.

In 2018, Thomas appeared in 15 games for the Texans and Broncos and caught 59 passes for 677 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
