Buccaneers Re-Signing RB Charles Sims

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are re-signing RB Charles Sims to a one-year contract on Thursday, according to Adam  Caplan.

It’s interesting to see a team sign a player right before the draft, but there’s no question the Buccaneers need more depth at running, even if they end up using a high pick on the position.

Sims, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.104 million contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Sims appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and rushed for 95 yards on 21 carries (5.9 YPC) to go along with 35 receptions for 249 yards receiving and one touchdown.
