Chargers Closing In On Re-Signing CB Brandon Flowers

Update:

Rand Getlin reports that the Chargers are closing in on an agreement with  free agent CB Brandon Flowers and it’s “not a question of if it gets done, but when.”

  • Aaron Wilson also reports that Flowers is expected to remain with the Chargers.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Chargers are in the process of making a “hard push” to re-sign free agent CB Brandon Flowers.

  • According to Rapoport, indications are that San Diego will be able to get an agreement in place.
  • However, Rapoport cautions that the deal isn’t done as of now.

Flowers is in the discussion to be the best available cornerback in this year’s market, so this would be a big move for the Chargers.

The Texans just gave Kareem Jackson a four-year contract worth $34 million and $20 million guaranteed, which means Flowers won’t keep cheap, especially with one less corner off the market.

Flowers, 29, signed a one-year contract worth $3 million with the Chargers after the Chiefs elected to cut him loose last year. Flowers managed to put together a very solid 2014 season and is in line for a sizable raise over the next few weeks.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

We have Flowers listed as the No. 14 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
